Jaipur/Ajmer, 6 July: Rajasthan has earned its reputation as one of the most sought-after destinations not only amongst domestic tourists but also with the international tourists. The State’s abundant heritage, magnificent forts, opulent palaces, fascinating arts and crafts, and vibrant living traditions captivate and enchant visitors from all walks of life. Realizing the immense potential of the tourism industry in the State, the State Government has left no stone unturned in taking a plethora of innovative and revolutionary initiatives, which have catapulted the tourism sector to unmatched heights of success and prosperity. This was stated by Additional Director, Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, Mr. Mohd. Salim Khan today at the 5th promotional roadshow held in Pushkar for the Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart 2023. The roadshow was jointly organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan and the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism in Rajasthan (FHTR) at the Aaram Baagh in Pushkar.

Mr. Khan further highlighted the initiatives and policies of the Tourism Department which has played an active role in supporting and participating in a wide range of platforms and initiatives aimed at promoting tourism in Rajasthan. It has established valuable partnerships with private organizations to facilitate cultural events, exhibitions, and travel marts, and the Rajasthan Domestic Tourism Mart (RDTM) serves as a prominent example of such collaborations. The recently launched Rural Tourism Policy which will promote tourism in the Rural Areas of the State. Tourism units showcasing the life, art and culture and heritage of villages will be promoted by the State. The scheme covers the tourism units in Rural areas such as paying guest houses/ homestays agro tourism units/ camping units and caravans. In addition, the Film Tourism Promotion Policy to establish Rajasthan as the most film-friendly State and also an important destination for film shooting.

To be held from 14 July to 16 July in Jaipur, the Mart is being jointly organised by the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan and the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism in Rajasthan (FHTR). It is also to be supported by Hotels and Restaurants Association of Rajasthan (HRAR), Indian Heritage Hotels Association (IHHA), and Rajasthan Association of Tour Operators (RATO). The theme for the Mart this year is Sustainable Tourism.

President of FHTR and MD, Clarks Group of Hotels, Mr. Apurv Kumar said that the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Ashok Gehlot gave iconic budgets in 2022 and 2023 which proved to be milestones in the economic development of Rajasthan. These budgets have provided for employment, ease of doing business and sustainable inclusive growth of the economy of Rajasthan. He also expressed his gratitude to the Rajasthan Tourism Minister, Vishvendra Singh for his efforts in making Rajasthan the most fertile State for investment in India. Mr. Kumar further highlighted that since the theme of the Mart this year is ‘Sustainable Tourism’, RDTM will also be collaborating with the Ministry of Environment, Government of Rajasthan.

The welcome speech was given by Secretary General, FHTR, Mr. Mohan Singh Mertia, and the Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. Dhananjay Singh Pachar of Pachar Group of Hotels. Also present on the occasion were Deputy Director, Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, Mr. Ajay Sharma; President, RATO, Mr. Mahendra Singh Rathore; President, Pushkar Hotels Association, Mr. Rajendra Singh Rathore, among others.

It is to be recalled that RDTM will provide a platform for all the hoteliers, travel agents/tour operators of Rajasthan to showcase their products to travel agents from all across India and facilitate structured B2B meetings. The first two editions of RDTM have been a major success inspiring the department to plan its third edition. The second edition of the RDTM last year witnessed over 5000 B2B meetings across 2 days. Almost 200 sellers exhibited over 800 properties, agencies and experiences. Apart from the knowledge sharing sessions, the mart was followed by 4 FAM trips for over 60 travel agents. The event gave a major fillip to domestic tourism.
