*STAKEHOLDERS’ MEET HELD IN JAISALMER AHEAD OF THE UPCOMING MARWAR TRAVEL MART*

*Jaipur/Jaisalmer, 12 August:* The Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan (FHTR) organised a stakeholders’ meet in Jaisalmer on Wednesday in connection with the first Marwar Travel Mart (MTM) in Jodhpur. It was held at Taj Gorbandh Palace and the meeting was attended by more than 130 stakeholders from the tourism and hospitality sectors. The District Collector and District Magistrate, Jaisalmer, Ms. Anupama Jorwal, attended as the Chief Guest, while Superintendent of Police, Jaisalmer, Mr. Abhishek Shivhare, was present as the Guest of Honour.

The first Marwar Travel Mart will be held in Jodhpur from 20 to 22 September, 2026. The event is expected to witness participation from around 125 travel agents and 300 properties from across the country.

Speaking at the programme, District Collector and District Magistrate of Jaisalmer, Ms. Anupama Jorwal, emphasised the need to involve local communities in tourism, employment generation and the preservation of local crafts. She also stressed the importance of promoting wastewater management and energy conservation to make tourism more sustainable.

Superintendent of Police, Jaisalmer, Mr. Abhishek Shivhare said that the police is always ready to assist tourism and tourists and expressed hope for better coordination during the upcoming tourism season.

The meeting focused on promoting tourism in Jaisalmer and western Rajasthan and effectively showcasing the tourism products of the Marwar region to domestic tourists and the travel trade.

On the occasion, President FHTR , Mr. Surendra Singh Shahpura said that FHTR does not merely organise travel marts but also plays an important role in supporting the government in developing policy frameworks. “We work with the government to promote the positive development of tourism” he said. Mr Shahpura also highlighted achievements such as the granting of industry status to the tourism sector.

He thanked the Rajasthan Government for introducing four policies in two years. He further said that the Tourism Unit Policy, Tourism Policy, Rural Tourism and Film Tourism policies, along with amendments to the Homestay Policy, are important steps towards promoting tourism. Mr. Shahpura also spoke about FHTR’s initiative to have Gangaur declared a state festival of Rajasthan and appealed to all regional and local organisations to join the initiative.

President of JHARA and Chairman of Marwar Travel Mart, Mr. J. M. Boob, invited everyone to attend MTM in his capacity as Chairman of the MTM Coordination Committee. He also emphasised the need to scale up the initiative.

Vice President of FHTR, Mr. Gyan Prakash highlighted the potential of tourism in the region.

Assistant Director, Rajasthan Tourism, Mr. Kamleshwar Singh spoke about the importance of domestic tourism in the current scenario and appealed to local hotels to support MTM.

Senior Vice President of FHTR, Mr. Rajendra Singh Pachar proposed the vote of thanks. He also expressed gratitude to the host, Taj Gorbandh General Manager, Mr. Rishabh Bundela and Rangmahal General Manager, Mr. Rakesh Singh.

RATO President and Vice President of FHTR, Mr. Mahendra Singh Rathore, along with other representatives from the tourism and hospitality sectors, were also present at the programme.

A film showcasing tourism and FHTR was screened during the event. Presentations on the Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart (RDTM) and Marwar Travel Mart (MTM) were also made.
